Fall Fashion Trends
Coats
The camel coat is one of the most talked about fashion trends for fall. Perfect for Canadians wishing to stay toasty, some coat styles this season have chic military-style adornments, others are menswear-inspired, and some are draped, such as capes and cloaks. Lengths vary from longer belted styles in tweed to cropped styles. Colours range from darks and greys, to earth tones, to splashy brights and jewel-tones.
Simplicity
Black or winter white from head-to-toe was a popular look on runways showing fall fashion trends. Particularly chic are unadorned outfits and dresses with longer hemlines for a sculpted slim silhouette. White can be paired with black boots. Black can be accessorized with white or a pop of colour. And don't forget black leather is hot!
Colour
Rich jewel tones and even primary colours are being seen this fall in coats, dresses, or used as a dramatic accent with black, white, or earth-toned ensembles.
Metallics and Lace
The sultry look of black lace has carried over from summer and remains trendy for fall. Metallics, especially gold, are a top Canadian fashion trend for fall as well. Metallic suits and tops are hot, as long as they are made of good fabric and one is careful not to choose pieces that emphasize figure flaws. Metallic pieces worn with khaki are a very hot combination!
Full Skirts
Skirts in Canada this fall are swingy and sporting lots of volume. A-line skirts and trapeze style are also in. Notably, skirts have longer hems [to the knee or below] for a more demure look -- cute with pumps or boots!
Skinny Pants
Narrow, tight-fitting pants and sleek tights are the rage this fall, whether they are denim, stretch corduroy, twill, lace, or even cargo-style. They are perfect with a plaid tunic, a camel coat or cape, and fall's hottest boots.
Sweaters
Knits are must-haves [we're Canadian after all!] and there is more variety than ever. Trendy fall sweater styles include cardigans, shawl-style, capes, cropped, draped, long, and belted. Check out these 5 cute sweaters!
Suits and Dresses
Styles are definitely more demure and classic, with longer hems. Well-tailored business suit styles, with both trousers and skirts were feature in Canadian fall fashion trends.
Plaid
Plaid shirts and tunic tops are certainly the easiest way to incorporate this fall fashion trend into your wardrobe, but the plaid trend also extends to pants, skirts, jackets, even tailored dresses! Indulge!
