Spring Clean Your Hairstyle

Get a trim
We know you ladies love the long locks, but forgoing regular trims leads to split ends. Despite popular belief, regular trims will not make hair grow faster, but they definitely will make hair look healthier.
Remove residue
Over time, styling products like mousse and hair spray can build up a residue that can weigh down your tresses and make them look dull. Use a clarifying shampoo, anti-residue shampoo or even your baby's shampoo about once a week in place of your regular shampoo to remove hair-product residue and give your hair back its natural shine.
Lighten up
Springtime is the segue to summer, so why not get in the spirit of the season with a lighter hue in your hair? Consult with your hairstylist about the latest trends in highlighting styles and hues and find out which would look best on you.

Bottom's up
Drinking lots of water not only hydrates your body and skin, it keeps your locks nourished as well. Be sure to drink plenty of water, especially with summer's warm weather approaching. Your dry locks will thank you.
Steep your strands in oil
Give your hair an at-home oil treatment to rejuvenate your hair. Jojoba, sweet almond and coconut oils are all great botanicals to use to help repair damaged hair. Apply small amounts of your preferred botanical oil onto damp hair until it's completely worked into your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and a warm towel and let it set for 30 minutes, then rinse and shampoo.
To condition brittle ends and smooth fly-aways, mix a few drops of botanical oils with a few drops of sandalwood oil and run it through the ends of your hair with your fingertips.

Treat your tresses tenderly
Instead of wringing excess water out of your hair after the shower or rubbing a towel against your strands, gently wrap your hair in a towel turban to avoid breakage.
Let your hair air-dry… a little bit
Don't blow-dry hair immediately when you get out of the shower. Do your make-up first, get dressed, have a cup of coffee and then head back to the bathroom to finish your style with the blow dryer. Also, don't blow-dry your hair until it's bone dry. Allow your hair to finish drying completely on its own to avoid damage and breakage.
