Don’t let hot weather ruin your look

Summer fashion tricks

There's nothing worse than getting all dressed up in the comfort of your air-conditioned home, only to go out in the sun and have your look ruined by heat and humidity.

Get to your destination just as flawless as you were when you left the house with these simple tips.

Avoid T-shirts

There's no shame in admitting it, ladies: We sweat. And on a hot summer day, moisture can appear under our arms in seconds. Even after entering a heavily air-conditioned room, the stains may be with you for the remainder of the day. The best thing to do when it's really hot out is to steer clear of shirts with tight underarms. Instead, opt for a tank top and a loose fitting cardigan or a blouse with wide armpit holes.

Keep hair up

Unfortunately when it gets really hot out, we sweat from our necks and back. And that sweat is only made worse when there's a heavy covering of hair over it. If you plan to do a fair bit of walking to get to your destination, wear your hair up while you move about. That way you'll keep it safe from the moisture on your neck and back, and it will be dry and frizz-free when you arrive at your destination.

Carry antiperspirant

Although you may put on antiperspirant in the morning, a lot can happen in a day. And there's no telling when your antiperspirant may give up on you. That's why it's best to keep a travel-size version in your purse so you can reapply whenever necessary.

Choose fabrics wisely

Often it isn't about how much you're wearing as it is about what you're wearing. The fabric your clothing is made of can greatly affect whether or not you find yourself overheating. Cotton and nylon will keep you cool and comfortable, while many wools will have you feeling too hot in moments. Go for lightweight fabrics that don't cling too tightly to the body.

Bring a lightweight cardigan

Keeping a lightweight jacket or cardigan handy is the perfect way to ensure your comfort all day long. It allows you the freedom to enjoy strolling around in your favourite summer dress or tank top while having something to throw on if you go to a cooler space. Just toss it in your bag until needed!

Be careful with your purse selection

Overloading your purse gives you a lot more to lug around during the day, which can lead to a fair bit of perspiration and discomfort. Make things easier on yourself by carrying only what you truly need with you. And steer clear of heavy fabrics such as leather, which will only weigh you down. Opt instead for a small, light purse with a thin strap for minimal effort.
