Rock The Looks Of The Opening Ceremony!
A bright blazer
There really seemed to be no end to the number of bright blazers sported by athletes during the opening ceremony. Whether it was Belgium's scarlet reds or Jamaica's neon yellows, countries from all over the world were rocking the bold jacket look. Get the look with H&M's short figure-fit blazer in eye-catching red or blue. Red or blue not your thing? Check out their figure-flattering stretch blazer in green, pink or burgundy (hm.com, $49.95)
From Brazil to the U.S.A., plenty of countries chose to dress their athletes in tennis shoes this year. Although tennis shoes don't work for every type of event, they can be a comfortable and simple way to get from one place to another — and look like an athlete in the process! Check out Keds' Champion Originals for a great place to start. If you like them, think about getting one of the line's more colourful and exciting options.
China, Brazil, Australia and many others all looked their best in skirts that fell in a straight cut to just above the knee or below mid-thigh. Whether you have an important meeting or a dressy dinner to attend, this style of skirt will be just what you need. Achieve a casual look with the Attitude Jay Manuel laced-back skirt. Or go a hint dressier with something along the lines of the Jessica sateen skirt (sears.ca, $17.49)
Sweden and Belgium, among others, used bold stripes to great effect. Truth be told, we can't all rock pale blue and yellow like the Swedes, but we certainly can sport their styling look! Check out Urban Outfitters' striped dolman sleeve cardigan in black and grey, red and blue or white and navy for a great addition on a cool night.
There were a whole lot of retro throwbacks at the opening ceremony — some more effective than others. The ladies of the Netherlands shone in royal blue, high-neck dresses, and the women of Poland looked downright stunning in their white-and-red dresses. Get your own classic cut look with something along the lines of Zara's crossover back dress.
There was lots of cute and quirky headwear worn by the athletes this year. And although you can't necessarily get away with wearing a wreath of flowers or bright scarf on your head all the time, you certainly can sport some of the nifty hats adorning the heads of stylish Olympic contenders.
