Katie Begins Practicing Her Former Religion

Katie Holmes has found her religious path by going back to the start. The actress and entrepreneur has reportedly started attending a Catholic church in New York City just two weeks after announcing she is leaving Tom Cruise and Scientology.

Goodbye, Scientology — Katie Holmes is going Catholic!

Between announcing her split from Rock of Ages actor Tom Cruise and coming to a divorce settlement, it has been a busy two weeks for the actress, who is now returning to her former religious roots.

According to reports from E! Online, the Dawson's Creek actress has been attending services at the Catholic Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City, and a source tells the entertainment website that Katie has become a registered parishioner.

Didn't take Katie too long to separate herself from the Scientology clan, did it? But then again, Scientology is one of the things said to have driven Katie to divorce her mega-star husband, and one ex-Scientology expert tells RadarOnline.com that Katie got out at just the right time — for both her and Suri's safety.

"She's Catholic, her family are very close and they have no doubt done a lot of research..." says ex-Scientologist Nancy Many to RadarOnline.com. "This is about the time children start going to the big Scientology schools, so it is no coincidence that she left now."

Well, it's great if Katie feels comfortable practicing Catholicism again, but what Suri will practice is still in question. Hmm... I hope Tom and Katie discussed that tidbit during the top-secret divorce settlement, and if they didn't, we'll prepare for another can of worms to explode open!
