Your Bedroom Might Cause Insomnia

Sometimes, without us even realizing it, our bedrooms can be disruptive to our sleeping cycle and our ability to fall asleep. It is important to feel comfortable and at ease when in our bedrooms, but most importantly, it is crucial for our bedrooms to be a sleep-friendly environment.

Avoid visual clutter

Clothes and shoes everywhere, a messy dresser, open drawers... you name it. All the clutter that lies around in our bedroom is actually stressing you out more than you think. And believe it or not, it can make it difficult to fall asleep. To be able to sleep well, you need to clear your mind and to be able to clear your mind, you need a serene, clutter-free atmosphere.

Keep the sunlight out

You might have no problem falling asleep at night, but you can’t seem to sleep well through the morning. Most likely, your window is located at a not-so-strategic location. You don’t necessarily need a new bedroom. All you really need is either new blinds or a dark curtain. Blinds tend to bend and break with long-term use, so be sure to check them and replace them when needed.

LED light free zone

A flashing red light from your phone or a blue light coming from your heater can be disruptive to sleep at night, especially if you are a light sleeper. It might not fully wake you up, but it definitely affects the depth of your sleep. Change the setting on your phone if you can, or keep the light facing away from the bed rather than directed at the bed.

Comfortable pillows

You will never be able to sleep well if your pillows are uncomfortable. You will move about a trillion and one times in your sleep and you will wake up feeling like a stampede of elephants ran over you in your sleep. Make sure that your pillows are comfortable and replace them every year or so; don’t wait till they are completely flattened! Remember, a comfortable bed is essential to good sleep.
