Organize a neighbourhood game
Summer is the perfect time for kids and adults alike to have fun in the great outdoors. And what better way to enjoy the weather than with a neighbourhood game of baseball or soccer? It's a great opportunity for you to get to know the people who live on your street and make some new family friends. So head over to your local field with some neighbourhood chums, and get playing!
Go for a bike ride
Whether you like to bike alone or with family and friends, this is the season for it. For the most part, the roads are dry, the weather is warm and the sun is bright — the ideal setting for a pleasant bike ride. So get that old bicycle out of the garage, or purchase a cheap one at your local bike store or Canadian Tire, and get out on the roads!
Arrange a weekly walk with your girlfriends
Life is hectic, and sometimes you just don't have time to see your favourite gal pals as much as you would like. Rekindle old friendships and get fit in the process by organizing a weekly walk or hike with your girlfriends. Pick a day all of you are free, and plan on exercising at that time every week. Keep things interesting by switching up where the walk takes place. You can stroll city streets one week and hike through park trails the next, all the while catching up with your favourite girls.
Visit your local pool
Summer is the easiest time to get in a good swim, because all the outdoor pools are finally able to open their gates. When the warmth and humidity get to be too much, make your way to your local pool, and enjoy an invigorating swim. You can even bring some friends or family along and create your own relay races or water polo games to get your blood really pumping.
Take up jogging
Many people call themselves "seasonal runners," and there is nothing wrong with that. Winters in Canada can be cold, making outdoor exercise undesirable. But when summer comes around, getting yourself outside for a nice jog is easier. Whether you take up the activity with family and friends or prefer for it to be your healthy "me time," jogging is a great way to get your daily exercise and to clear your head.
