It's Your Big Day,
So Be Sure To Enjoy It!

Many women refer to wedding planning as "stressful" rather than "joyful." With all the selecting, deciding, organizing and timing, it's only natural that you feel anxious. But by following the tips offered in this little guide, hopefully you'll be able to look back on your wedding day and the days leading up to it remembering all the joy rather than any stress you felt.

Fun wedding

Delegate

Though you may want to do everything yourself, it isn't physically possible, especially on the day itself, when you have a task at hand more important than arranging flowers — and that's getting married! To ensure things run smoothly and feel more manageable, delegate. That's what your bridal party is for, after all! Take a look at your friends and family, and get a sense of who they are and what strengths they have. Perhaps your sister is exceptionally organized. Ask her to hold on to and distribute the cheques that need to be handed out to the photographer, minister, DJ, etc. If your mom has an eye for design, ask her to check in on the reception hall to make sure everything has been set up appropriately. Surely there are people around you whom you trust, so don't be afraid to rely on them to carry out tasks you simply don't have time for.

Consider hiring a wedding planner

Many women these days turn to the assistance of a wedding planner to help find the right dress, venue, decorations and more. Plenty event planners are out there, so don't feel you have to settle on the first one you meet with. Feel free to interview a few until you find a person you connect with and feel you can trust to carry out things the way you want. Or if you still want to do all the designing and planning yourself, consider engaging the services of a wedding planner for the wedding day only so you don't have to worry about anything but showing up as your gorgeous self.

Get things done in advance

The more you can do ahead of time, the better you will feel as your wedding day approaches. Some aspects, such as booking the venue and the food, can be done months or even years in advance. But there are other things you can take care of in advance that can save you a lot of grief when the big day arrives. For example, arrange a trial for your hair and makeup a few weeks or months before the event. That way you won't get behind schedule trying to get your look up to par on the big day.

Don't sweat the small stuff

It's easier said than done sometimes, but try to remind yourself to focus on the big picture. Regardless of whether a few bouquets are missing or the chair covers are a slightly different colour than planned, by the end of the day you'll be married, and that's what counts. Your wedding day will pass far more quickly than you expect, so try to enjoy every second of it, and leave stress out of the equation.
